The Northern Onondaga Public Library at Cicero is hosting three new wellness programs: Zumba Gold Seated, the Eckart Tolle Reading Group and Meditation.
Zumba Gold Seated is held from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays June 13 to July 25, with the exception of July 4. Zumba Gold Seated uses the same Latin rhythms as regular Zumba but is done in a chair, so the moves are toned down to accommodate different levels of fitness.
On Monday evenings, a new book discussion group called the Eckhart Tolle Reading Group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. beginning June 20. Tolle is a spiritual author best known for the book “The Power of Now,” which emphasizes the importance of being present as a way to free oneself from worry and anxiety. The group will meet regularly to discuss passages from the work — anyone interested in learning how to live a more peaceful life is invited to join the discussion.
Immediately following the discussion group on Mondays is a 30-minute meditation session that will begin at 7 p.m. A brief reading of passages from various spiritual authors will begin and end the session, and cushions, benches and chairs will be available. Mediation will be held weekly and all are invited.
The Northern Onondaga Public Library at Cicero is located at 8686 Knowledge Ln., Cicero. For more information about these events, visit nopl.org or call 315-699-2032.
