The Fayetteville-Manlius School District Board of Education has elected a new president and vice president for the 2016-17 school year.
During the board’s annual re-organizational meeting July 11 at Eagle Hill Middle School, board members elected Timothy P. Crisafulli to serve as board president and Marissa Joy Mims as vice president. The positions are one-year terms. Crisafulli was elected to the board in 2014, and Mims was elected in 2009.
Also during the meeting, three board members and Superintendent Craig J. Tice took the oath of office for their respective positions. In May, district residents elected Elena A. Romano, Kim Swanson and Daryll Fitch Wheeler to serve three-year terms on the board, which began July 1. Romano is serving her sixth term on the board, Swanson her second and Wheeler her first.
The board of education is the school district’s official policy-making body. It is comprised of nine school district residents who voters elect to three-year terms in an annual election. Board members are not compensated.
