Cazenovia High School Class of 2017 is hosting its second annual 5K/3K Run/Walk at noon on Sunday, June 5, at the Cazenovia High School Cross Country Course, Sean Googin Athletic Fields, 2350 Fenner Road, Cazenovia — rain or shine.
The Color Run event is all about a color crazy day with friends and family. You can run, walk, crawl or cartwheel if you wish! Everyone is encouraged to wear a white or mostly white shirt. Color will be administered along the course by smiling people whose main goal is to douse participants in colorful powder to ensure that they look like they ran through a rainbow by the time they cross the finish line. At the Finish line, the crowd will be involved in a color throw every 15 minutes to welcome new runners coming in.
The color is designed to wash out after the event, but it is suggested participants wear items they do not mind getting colorful. Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, or a change of clothes just in case.
People of all ages are welcome to run. All children under 10 can run with an adult free of charge but need to register and sign the wavier.
For the safety of the runners and animal friends, animals are not allowed at the run.
There is a $25 entry fee and all runners are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to the run for the local food pantry. All proceeds will be used to benefit the CHS Class of 2017 and Caz Cares.
Pre-registered participants can pick up their packets Thursday, June 2, in front of the Caz High School starting at 4 p.m. Registration will open at 10 a.m. the day of the race at Fenner Fields. Registration forms will be available, just remember to bring the $25 registration fee.
People can register by completing the waiver that is available on the school website at caz.cnyric.org, or in the high school office and the day of the race at Fenner Field. The online registration will be open until June 1.
