Douglas W. Madison, 95, formerly of Fayetteville, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, in DeKalb, IL, where he has resided since 1996. Doug was born in Syracuse, played the trumpet in local bands, and received a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in 1950. He worked for Chase Lincoln National Bank for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees as Carpenter’s Mate 3rd Class in the Battle of Okinawa during WWII.
Doug was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Syracuse, the DeWitt Community Church, and the First Congregational Church of DeKalb. He was active in the Boy Scouts as a Life Scout and Scoutmaster, the Jaycees, the Chase Lincoln Retirees Club, and the DeKalb Area Retirement Men’s Discussion Group.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Madison of DeKalb, IL; son, Jeffrey Madison (Cindy) of Fayetteville; daughter, Judy Brame (Dan) of Libertyville, IL; and three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gordon M. Madison.
Calling hours will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The service will follow the calling hour. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Warner.
