Heather Costello Bartman, 44, of Baldwinsville, died after a brave fight with cancer on the morning of Thursday, June 10, 2021, at home surrounded by loved ones.
She was a loving mother, wife and principal. Heather was born in Auburn, N.Y., and grew up in Homer and Baldwinsville.
Heather was a dedicated educator, first as a music teacher in Lyons and later as an assistant principal at APW. In 2019, Heather became school principal at Genesee Elementary in Auburn. She found an incredibly welcoming and supportive family in this role.
During that fall, Heather was diagnosed with cancer that she bravely faced with unending courage and strength. Heather infused people with her joy and made everyone she met feel grateful for having her in their lives.
Heather is survived by her husband, Nathan Bartman, daughter, Chloe Costello, parents, Jon and Kathy Bowen, sister, Melanie Bowen Hoy, brother-in-law Jeff Hoy, and nieces Anastasia Hoy, Allegra Hoy and Acadia Hoy. Calling hours will be held at Gates Funeral Home at 29 West Genesee St., Baldwinsville, NY 13027, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 18.
