Nancy E. Manion, 78, of Cazenovia, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 16, 1942, in Lanesboro, MN, to Horace and Julia Thomas. Nancy was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and taught elementary school teacher for several years before devoting her time to nurture her family and support their many activities.
As the quintessential homemaker, Nancy was well known for her baking skills, especially for her prize-winning chocolate chip cookies. In her leisure time she and her husband enjoyed both cross country and downhill skiing. She was also an avid swimmer, and enjoyed tending to her flower garden and sewing. Moreover, she was always eager to walk the many trails on her property with her husband and share that special time together. Nancy was a teacher’s aide at the Burton Street School, where her sons attended and was a den mother for the Boy Scouts. She was a member and past president of CazCares for several years.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul D. Manion; her sons, William (Lynne) Manion of Hampden, ME, and Edward (Alison) Manion of Westminster, MA; her sisters, Lois Fisher of Clearwater, MN, and Priscilla (James) Shoop of Apple Valley, MN; her grandchildren, Bradie (Andrew) Bishop, Dacie (Chris Gilman) Manion, Wilder Manion and Quinn Manion; one great granddaughter, Rosemary Bishop. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard Thomas.
