Ronald Horner, 86, of Cazenovia, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020. He was born in Lysander and was a veteran of the Korean War. Ron was employed as a heavy equipment operator with the Town of Cazenovia Highway Department for 20 years when he retired as the Assistant Superintendent in 1995. He enjoyed being outdoors and looked forward to taking his camper to Cedar Valley Campsite in Morrisville where he would spend time visiting and sharing stories with his friends. Ron was a member of the American Legion Post No. 88, Cazenovia, and a life member of the Canastota V.F.W. Post No. 600.
Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary “Betsy” Horner; his children, Thomas Horner of Clearwater, FL, Mary Beth (Michael) Kendrick of Concord, NC, Jean (Tony) DeWan of Endicott, N.Y. and Betsy Ann (Mark Church) Horner of Baldwinsville; his step-son, David D’Onofrio of Cazenovia; two sisters, Christina (Gary) Lucas of Homosassa, FL and Aloysia Horner of Toronto, Ontario; one granddaughter, Sarah (Aaron Bozzi) Farron of Gilford, CT. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by two sons, Mark and Jim Horner; his brother, Ted Horner and by his sister, Shirley Nesbit.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Cazenovia.
