Doris N. Butler passed peacefully at her home in Baldwinsville on March 20, 2020. She was born in New York City on May 1, 1921. Doris spent her childhood in NYC with joyful summers on her grandparents’ farm near Newfoundland, PA.
Her continued focus throughout her life was singing where she studied and performed extensively in NYC as well as much later locally in Baldwinsville. She was a graduate of Hunter College Business School and held several secretarial positions in NYC and, later, Syracuse. In 1946 she married the love of her life, Myron Butler. She was a devoted wife and attentive mother to her son Russell. Doris and Myron had a long and loving marriage and together enjoyed wonderful family life in Baldwinsville and in the Poconos. They also truly enjoyed the neighborhood “gang” as well as Doris’s longtime best friend Velta Viceps. Doris adored her three grandchildren and enjoyed being involved in their lives.
Surviving family includes son Russell Butler (Cindy) and grandchildren Nicholas, Rachel and Marissa. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Robert Nannsen, her sister Alice Worton and her loving husband Myron.
A small private graveside service will be held at the Moravian Church Cemetery, Newfoundland, PA.
