Mary Gayle Green Korzekwa, 80, passed away Oct. 2, 2019, at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born in Omaha, NE, and moved to the Syracuse area in 1959. She was married to Sam M. Korzekwa for 20 years.
Mary Gayle worked a lifetime in public service. She started her career with the United States Postal Service at the Baldwinsville Post Office in 1975. She worked in many USPS locations, including as postmaster in both Jordan and Memphis, N.Y. Mary Gayle eventually retired from the USPS as the Baldwinsville Postmaster in 2000. She then went on to work the U.S. Census 2000. She was very active in the community and served for the OCM BOCES Board of Education for 30 years. She also served for the Baldwinsville Board of Education twice, including serving as president. Mary Gayle also served as secretary for the Friends of Baldwinsville Public Library for four years. She enjoyed dogs, cats, reading and playing solitaire on her tablet.
Mary Gayle is survived by her children, Cynthia (Dennie) Poulin of Dover, NH, James Green of Baldwinsville, and Susan (Jay) Larson of Clancy, MT.
A service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville.
