Bernard Naselli passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Bernie was born in Syracuse in 1934 to Mary Lapi and Joseph Bernard Naselli. He grew up on the North Side of Syracuse and attended Christian Brother Academy. He graduated from Georgetown and post graduate in orthodontics at Buffalo University. He began his practice of orthodontics at 1223 North Salina St., which had been his family home. He volunteered at the Dental Clinic at St. Joseph Hospital and taught at OCC .Upon his retirement in 2002, the Mayor of Syracuse proclaimed June 13, 2002, as Dr. Bernard Rocco Naselli Recognition Day. He married his college sweetheart, MaryEllen McHugh. They had six children and they built their home in Westvale and, later, in Skaneateles.
He was a hard worker and a good man, a great husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He was very much loved and admired and will be missed.
He is predeceased by his parents and his son, Mark. His family includes his wife, Mary Ellen Naselli; three daughters: Mary Ellen (Scott) Winkelman, Susan Naselli and Karen (Tom) Flanagan; two sons: Anthony (Gise) McHugh and Michael Naselli; three grandchildren: Paloma McHugh, Ellen and Alex Flanagan; and many caring nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, in St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Skaneateles, with burial following in St. Francis Cemetery in Marcellus. There will be no calling hours. To send condolences visit: robertdgrayfuneralhome.com.
