To the editor:
I am writing you to encourage you to vote for Mr. Ryan Pleskach for Clay Town Council.
I have known Ryan for more than 10 years and in that time, he has demonstrated high moral character and an unyielding passion to make his community better and stronger. Ryan has served on the Clay Zoning Board of Appeals and graduated from the Leadership Greater Syracuse program. He understands the challenges facing Clay and how we are impacted by the choices our neighboring communities make. Unlike the other challengers in this year’s election, he has outlined several specific initiatives to improve our Town and address some of our future issues. They are not nebulous, “pie in the sky” solutions. Ryan has a solid grasp on the purview of Town government and an understanding of many functions and duties of the Town.
Also, at the town level of government, national party agendas have little significance. I live in a household with three voters that has split registration across the Republican and Democratic parties. For all the reasons outlined above we will be voting for Ryan Pleskach on Nov. 7. We should not vote to change our leadership simply because other parties candidates want a seat at the table by repeating what they see at the national level. Instead, those candidates should gain an understanding of town of Clay operations (e.g. Robert’s Rules of Order) and participate in more town meetings, which would answer many of their concerns about transparency.
We should vote for those that are the most competent and have a track record of success. I would respectfully encourage my fellow town residents to do the same.
