As a result of the special village election in Minoa March 21, Gregory Rinaldi has been elected to serve another year as a village trustee, defeating opponentKelly A. Matthes-Modelewski with a vote of 147 to 125.
“I expected it to be tight and each of us ran a very respectful election,” said Rinaldi. “Bill [Brazill] is a great leader, we have a great village, they work hard and as long as we continue to do that, we’ll be in great shape. I hope to continue to do what we’ve been doing.”
Rinaldi, of the Paving Party, had served one year as a village trustee when he was appointed in April 2016 to fill newly-elected mayor William Brazill’s trustee seat. On the village board, he served as a liaison to the Department of Public Works and was in charge of new home building/growth.
This trustee seat expires in 2018, so if Rinaldi wishes to serve again, he must seek reelection next year.
In a candidate questionnaire distributed by the Eagle Bulletin, Rinaldi said he would work to keep with village efficient while saving money and keeping taxes low.
“I would like to thank all of the Village of Minoa,” said Matthes-Modelewski, of the Home Party. “Your support is absolutely amazing. I was truly honored to be on the ballot, and receive so many votes. So let’s back Mr. Greg Rinaldi for another term. Let’s all work together to make Minoa our family. Thank you again for all your support! Please remember, ‘Home is where the heart is.'”
