Buyea’s True Value has a new look, a new feel and a larger selection of stock than ever before — and the longtime Cazenovia business will be celebrating its grand re-opening with a special weekend event at the end of April.
Buyea’s spent last summer remaking the entire interior layout of the store, which included changing the direction of the aisles, shifting the locations of certain items, adding more stock to the shelves and removing completely the sale of appliances. The store front and sign was also repainted.
“The real thing we updated was our plumbing, electrical and hardware areas — we just have more stuff than we did before,” said owner Earl Buyea, Jr. “We’re excited. We’ve got a lot of new products.”
Cashier Teresa Marris said customers have been supportive of the changes. “We’ve had a great response,” she said.
And while much about Buyea’s has changed over the past year, one store fixture that has not changed is Butterscotch the cat, who continues to walk the aisles and sleep on top of the cash register. “He had to find new places to sleep, so he is a little distraught,” Marris said.
The Buyea’s True Value grand re-opening celebration will occur the last weekend in April, with hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 28; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 30.
The event will include deals on store items, as well as a treasure hunt with a chance to win four prizes, a chance to win a Weber gas grill, free popcorn all weekend and free hot dogs and soda from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Buyea’s True Value is located at 131 Albany St.
