Bugattis, Ferraris, Model As, custom cars, and so many more……a car lovers paradise. The Skaneateles Cares Car Club is organizing an extraordinary car show in Clift Park on the north shore of Skaneateles Lake on Saturday, August 19th from 10 am – 2 pm. The public is invited to attend free of charge!
Clift Park (by the Gazebo) will play host to some of the rarest automobiles throughout history, including the most exotic and hyper-cars. Imagine Franklin cars from the 1920’s, side-by-side with multi-million dollar Lamborghinis, and Porsches and Corvettes. If you have a rare or exotic car, and would like to be considered for the Show, please fill out an application at https://skancares.com/event/cars-on-the-lake/. Application deadline is August 10th.
Skaneateles Cares Car Club is a brand new, not-for-profit organization created in 2022. It is the brain-child of two retired Skaneateles business executives who met at the Skaneateles Central Schools bus garage. Ed Keller and Duane Wiedor made a similar switch of gears in life after retiring and became school bus drivers. They are fellow car enthusiasts who hatched the idea of having car events around Central New York to benefit childrens’ charities.
Ed and Duane started talking amongst local friends and teamed up to have a couple test run events in 2022. They were a huge success with over 60 cars and 100 people. Together with management support of local residents: Grant and Keith Krieger, Marc Franco, John Zell, Bill Burdick, and Susan Dove, they created a 501C3 nonprofit named Skaneateles Cares Car Club.
The Skaneateles Cares Car Club, or otherwise known as ”SC3,” would like to raise one million dollars over the next 5 years to create a car themed interactive room at the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital for children to enjoy as a distraction from the health challenges they are experiencing.
The premier event for 2023 is “Cars by the Lake” on August 19th. It will be an educational experience celebrating the vast history of autos from past to future. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk with the owners and vote for their favorite vehicle.
