Changing Times, Changing Minds: The Powerful Friendship of Frances Seward & Martha Coffin Wright | Wed, March 1st at 6:30 PM: Jeff Ludwig, Seward House Museum Education Director will discuss the intertwined lives and ideals of Auburnians, Frances Seward and Martha Coffin Wright. Together, they petitioned for women’s rights, linked their homes onto the Underground Railroad, and fought for social justice on the community and national level.
Sensory Explorations | Thursday, March 2nd from 4:00 – 4:30 PM: Join us on the first Thursday of the month for a special program for kids 18 months to 3 years. Each child will explore and learn through hands-on tactile play that engages the senses. This program helps to develop fine motor skills and introduce new words, concepts, and tactile sensations.
Open Play | Fridays March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th from 3:00 – 4:30 PM: Drop in to the library to play with our toys and interact with other families. Coffee and tea available for caregivers. For kids up to age 7.
12th Annual LEGO Building Contest
Kids & “Kids at Heart” are invited to build their own original LEGO creation at home and drop it off at the library, from Sunday, March 5th to Tuesday, March 14th where it will be displayed and judged by local building and design professionals.
LEGO Challenge | Tuesday, March 7th and 14th from 4:45 – 5:45 PM: Get ready to flex your creative problem solving skills! Participants will be given fictional scenarios that they most solve using LEGOs. Registration required. For ages 8 – 12.
Movie Matinee | Wednesday, March 8th at 2:00 PM: As a part of the Healthy Land, Healthy Food, Healthy People Series, watch the film Kiss the Ground about a revolutionary group of activists, scientists, farmers, and politicians that band together in a global movement of “Regenerative Agriculture” that could balance our climate, replenish our vast water supplies, and feed the world. Not able to attend? The film is also available on Netflix for those not able to attend the in-person screening.

Graphic Novel Book Club | Sunday, March 12th at 2:30 PM: Our March book is Newsprints by Ru Xu. Every month, we’ll read a graphic novel and then get together at the library to chat about the book, play games, and flex our creative brains. For kids in grades 3 – 5.
Healthy Land, Healthy Food, Healthy People Series: Kiss the Ground Film Discussion| Monday, March 13th at 6:30 PM: Kip Coerper, GreenFaith Fellow and writer of the local “Green Corner” articles, will facilitate a discussion on the groundbreaking film Kiss the Ground, about soil health and regenerative farming, which by sequestering carbon, is a considerable solution to address global warming.
The film will be shown at the library on Wednesday, March 8th at 2pm and may also be viewed on Netflix.
Library Board Meeting | Tuesday, March 14th at 6:30 PM: The Library Board is made up of community members who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the library. All meetings are open, and the public is welcome to attend.

Guitar Concert: Douglas Rubio| Saturday, March 25th at 7:30 PM:
Douglas Rubio is recognized nationwide as an outstanding performer on the classical guitar. His brilliant solo performances inspire standing ovations, and he is a gold medal chamber musician. The Santa Barbara News-Press praised his playing for its “considerable sensitivity and bravura.” His programs offer a fascinating mix of the old, the new, the traditional, and the off-the-beaten-path.

The Case Research Laboratory: Birthplace of Movietone | Tuesday, March 28th at 2:00 PM: The Case Research Laboratory in Auburn, NY opened in 1916 and spent the “Roaring 20s” inventing world-changing technology. Theodore W. Case, owner and founder of the Lab, had the wealth and the vision to make commercially successful sound film possible. Evening Book Club: True Biz | Wednesday, March 29nd at 6:30 PM: It’s easy to join our book clubs! Come every month or just for the books that interest you most. Meetings are casual and everyone is welcome. The Evening Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month. Participants have the option to join the discussion either in-person at the library or virtually via Zoom.
