Animal Wellness of Skaneateles welcomes new vets
Dr. Megan Williams recently announced the addition of two new veterinarians to the Animal Wellness of Skaneateles team. Joining the team are Dr. Linda Hunter, DVM, and Dr. Bob Pratt, DVM.
Hunter graduated from the veterinary school at Cornell University in 1992.
She practiced small animal medicine in the Capital District area and, later, in Buffalo.
Hunter expanded her expertise by switching to shelter animal medicine in Charlotte, NC, before returning to Cornell University for a PhD. in genetics – which she received in 2008.
Subsequently, Hunter joined Shelter Outreach Services (SOS) to learn High Volume, High Quality Spay-Neuter (HVHQSN) surgery techniques before joining the team at Animal Wellness where she specializes in small animal surgery.
In her spare time, Hunter enjoys holding vaccine and wellness clinics on the Onondaga Nation Reservation, and spending time with her nine cats.
Pratt received his bachelor’s degree of science with honors from Cornell University in 1997.
After completing his undergraduate education, Pratt joined the United States Peace Corps and was sent to Morocco.
Upon returning to the states in 1999, he settled in Illinois and completed a study in the anesthesia department at the University of Chicago.
For the next phase of his professional career, Pratt headed to London to obtain his veterinary degree.
After graduating from The Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2004, he returned to his hometown in Central New York.
He accepted a position in a mixed animal practice while also providing spay and neuter services for shelters and low-income households.
Through colleagues in New York, Pratt developed an interest in critical care and worked in emergency medicine for a decade.
Pratt has a special interest in anesthesiology and at Animal Wellness will be providing services in internal medicine as well as routine surgery. In his free time,
Pratt enjoys traveling, running, and spending time with his cat, Serge, and his dog, Arthur.
Williams also shared a not on veterinary care under COVID-19.
