Baltimore Woods to host virtual meditation hike
For those who might be feeling stressed over the current stay-at-home regulations or are in need of nature’s inspiration but can’t get out on the trails, Baltimore Woods Nature Center is launching its first virtual program offering to the Central New York community.
Now through April 25, local community viewers can visit baltimorewoods.org and sign up to receive a free, 20-minute virtual spring meditation hike led by staff member and Naturalist Becky Wilson.
Designed to get that spring back in your step, this virtual meditation hike allows families and individuals to enjoy scenery along the trails of Baltimore Woods in Marcellus while listening to guided meditative prompts inspired by nature, one of the best meditation partners.
Wilson takes her audience on an experiential journey by slowing down to appreciate the sights and sounds along the trail, allowing the energy of spring to help awaken her participants and fill them with a renewed purpose.
In light of this challenging time, this programming will be free of charge.
Those wishing to make a donation to Baltimore Woods Nature Center can do so online during the registration process. To sign up to receive a viewing invitation, visit baltimorewoods.org.
In the coming weeks, Baltimore Woods Nature Center plans to release several new virtual programs in an effort to continue connecting the local community to the natural world.
Since the Interpretive Center closed to the public in mid-March, the staff has launched Nature in Your Hands at Home, a new series of web pages on their site designed as a resource for families and individuals who might be missing trips to favorite places or looking for ways to stay engaged in the outside world from the confines of home.
The site includes weekly videos about animals and other nature topics, nature poetry, nature journaling prompts, activities, games, and stories read-aloud.
