Otisco Lake Preservation Association announces award winners
Otisco Lake Preservation Association mission is to preserve the watershed for future generations. To accomplish that end, we need to support educating the generation that follows.
OLPA continued that effort again this year with their OLPA Care of the Environment Scholarship Awards. Seniors from each of the high schools in the three towns making up the Otisco Lake watershed are eligible to receive the award.
The OLPA Care of the Environment Award is given to three deserving graduating senior students who that plan to enroll in post-graduate education in the environmental or health sciences. Distribution of the award was at the discretion of the individual school’s administrative staff.
The Otisco Lake Preservation Association was formed as a not-for-profit 501(C)3 Corporation to protect one of our region’s greatest resources – fresh water. One of our missions is to help inform and educate the Central New York residents of the importance of protecting and preserving the lake and its watershed. Otisco Lake supplies nearly 18 million gallons per day to Syracuse and the surrounding suburbs.
This year’s winners include Adam Wood from Onondaga Junior/Senior High School, Garrett Pierpoint from Tully Junior/Senior High School and Angelina VanCamp from Marcellus Senior High School.
