The Liverpool Central School District has rescheduled an informational meeting on its redistricting proposal.
The meeting, originally scheduled for Jan. 22, was postponed in order for the district to better analyze data from 2014. The meeting will now take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the cafeteria of the Liverpool High School Annex.
According to a release from Superintendent Dr. Mark Potter, the meeting “will provide families with details regarding the implementation of redistricting.”
After the meeting, letters will be sent home to all families in the district who will be affected by the proposal. In addition, each building will host an informational meeting in March to discuss with families the factors affecting each individual school’s redistricting plans and activities.
The district has already implemented its redistricting plan for its three middle schools.
“[The middle schools] were redistricted to support a ‘feeder’ school structure in the fall of 2014,” said LCSD Board of Education President Patricia DeBona-Rosier earlier this month. “Each middle school has three elementary buildings feed into it: Nate Perry Elementary, Donlin Drive Elementary and Chestnut Hill Elementary go to Chestnut Hill Middle School; Liverpool Elementary, Elmcrest Elementary and Long Branch Elementary students attend Liverpool Middle School and the last three elementary schools, Willow Field Elementary, Soule Road Elementary and Morgan Road Elementary, attend Soule Road Middle School.”
The elementary plan is set to go into effect this September.
