Each of Baldwinsville’s cross country teams would produce third-place finishes during the CNY Counties League National division championships, held Wednesday at Durgee Junior High School.
Even on its home course, the Bees could not get past first-place Liverpool or second-place Cicero-North Syracuse, as the order of the top three was unchanged in both meets.
B’ville’s girls got closer to the runner-up spot, though, as it produced 56 points, just behind C-NS, who was second with 51 points. Liverpool prevailed with 23 points.
The Bees’ Marissa Lathrop made her way to third place in 18 minutes, 42.5 seconds, trailing Liverpool teammates Abby McNamara (18:28.2) and Morgan Mahoney (18:37.3), while Rachael Miller also had a strong race, taking fifth place in 18:54.6.
Kelley Hull, in a time of 20:04.3, made her way to 13th place, with Mia Bolton in 18th place (20:38.2), just ahead of Hannah Olds (20:41.6) in 19th place. Natalie Farnett, in 21st place in 20:45.6, edged out Nadine Dickter (20:45.8) for that spot as Emily McComb finished 23rd in 20:50.6.
Meanwhile, in the boys CNYCL National meet, B’ville had 70 points, with C-NS getting the second spot with 53 points as Liverpool, again, prevailed with 18 points.
Of the top 14 finishers, only Bees senior Jack Martin broke through the Liverpool-C-NS axis, making his way to third place in 15:34 flat, behind the Warriors’ tandem of Ben Petrella (15:13.9) and Dan Muldoon (15:31.4).
Steve Petrelli finished 17th, in 16:48.9, with Paul Moore (16:49.9) and Ryan DeLola (16:50.8) right behind in the 18th and 19th spots, respectively. Mike Boyce, in 17:01.5, took 22nd place, with Brennan LaQue 26th (17:08.3) as Cameron Morrissey finished 29th in 17:16.4 and Harrison Warner (17:22.8) slid into 30th place.
