Three candidates are officially running for the two village trustee positions coming up for election on Tuesday, March 20.
Current trustees John Cromp (Village Homeowners Party) and Sue Jones (Village Party) filed their independent nominating petitions with the village clerk on Monday Feb. 13. Candidate Jim Lanning (United Neighbors Party) filed his petitions on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
The two trustee positions being elected are each for three-year terms, at a salary of $3,000 per year.
At its meeting on Thursday, Feb. 23, the village board will resolve to publish the election information that will include the names of the candidates. Absentee ballots are ready to mail or handout, subsequent to registered voters filling out an absentee ballot application, which is available at the village office, said Village Clerk Patty Couch.
The Skaneateles village election will take place from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Fire Station at 77 West Genesee Street.
The last day to register with the county to be eligible to vote in the village election is Friday, March 9; the last day the village clerk can receive applications to mail ballots is Tuesday, March 13. All absentee ballots must be returned to the Skaneateles Fire Station no later than 9 p.m. on March 20 to be cast and counted.
