Even after the Liverpool boys swim team spotted an early lead to Fayetteville-Manlius in Tuesday night’s meet at Nottingham, it had plenty of firepower to come back.
As a result, at the same Nottingham venue where they’ll contest the Section III championships next week, the Warriors beat the Hornets 101-84, improving to 8-2 on the season.
Garrett Clarke and Nick Burdo led the charge, each winning twice. Clarke beat F-M’s Nate Green, 2:14.33 to 2:17.59, in the 200 individual medley, and late in the meet he dominated the 100 breaststroke, winning in a time of 1:03.85.
Meanwhile, Burdo would sweep the sprints. He swam the 50 freestyle in 22.79 seconds, nearly a full second ahead of the Hornets’ Will Twichell (23.71), and moved on the 100 freestyle, where he sped to a victory in 50.10 seconds as Drew Henry (52.65 seconds) made it a 1-2 finish.
Dan Roche continued his dominance on the diving board, earning 281.1 points. Dan Hens won a tight 500 freestyle over F-M’s Zach Swanson, 5:08.85 to 5:09.98, with Marc Alessi getting first in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.19, again with Henry second in 1:06.17. Hens, Burdo, Henry and Brian Alsever tore through the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.07.
