Kaela Fiutak and Rachel Teixeria both had strong showings for the Skaneateles girls swim team during Tuesday night’s 97-83 defeat to Auburn at the Community Center pool.
Fiutak, who has swept to victories in diving events throughout the fall, did so again here, picking up 174.40 points to claim the top spot.
As for Teixeria, she needed 2:34.62 to prevail in the 200 individual medley, and later she returned to help the Lakers’ 400 freestyle relay team claim the first spot in a quick 4:02.75.
For the victorious Maroons, three different swimmers won twice. Mary Jane Leja was first in the 200 freestyle (2:02.61) and 500 freestyle (5:42.55), while Brigid Cotter claimed the 100 freestyle (57.83 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.18).
Michaela Elliott earned titles in the 50 freestyle (26.20 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:05.31), with Cotter helping Auburn take the 200 medley (2:04.56) and 200 freestyle (1:52.60) relays.
The Community Center is the host venue for next Tuesday’s Onondaga High School League championship meet, the precursor to the Nov. 2-5 Section III championships at Nottingham’s Max Newman Pool.
