Club Sushi was rocking Dec. 30.
C&G Music helped bring the 11th annual Year End Acoustic Blowout, which showcased the talent of 13 local musicians, to Baldwinsville. Each performance featured two original pieces and one cover.
“[This was] a unique opportunity to see some of this area’s finest talent all in one night,” said Garrett Knaub, co-owner of C&G Music in Baldwinsville.
From 6:30 to 11 p.m., approximately 100 people came out to support the musicians and to enjoy the performances.
“What an amazing group of talented musicians,” said Lee Wilder, who attended the event.
Conceived by Scott Dixon, who at the time worked for a local radio station called The Dog (105.1 FM), the event was developed as a showcase for some of the many talented, original artists in the area.
“Original music doesn’t receive a ton of support in the Syracuse area and the thought was to package the talent into one night, which makes for a great experience for the audience members and gives the artist more people to play for than they typically would otherwise,” Knaub said.
Having been held in various venues throughout Syracuse, the Acoustic Blowout moved to Baldwinsville after Dixon collaborated with C&G Music as a judge in the local business’ Singer Songwriter Showdowns.
“Dixon had been impressed with the interest generated from C&G Music’s ties to the local music community,” Knaub said. “He had thought of moving the event from Syracuse to Baldwinsville and thought a tie-in with C&G Music made sense both for the event and the business.”
“C&G Music was happy to climb on board, both providing the PA system for the event as well as promoting it in-store and through our mailing list and online community,” Knaub added.
Having partnered with Mohegan Manor owner Dennis Sick for multiple events over the last few years, Knaub said it was a “no-brainer” for the venue to be the Sushi Club, which is located on the bottom floor of Mohegan Manor.
“It is a beautiful room and really worked well for the event,” Knaub said. “It made sense as a way for the Sushi Club to gain exposure by having people there for the night who may have been unaware of the venue prior.”
The event also helps musicians network with each other and enjoy the company of common-minded, fellow artists.
“The event is great exposure for the artists,” Knaub said. “Any event that brings artists together to share ideas, songs and conversation can only have a positive impact on the musical community.”
