Within the confines of the Center State Conference, the Canastota girls volleyball team has quickly established its superiority with a series of one-sided wins.
The Raiders did not spend much time on the court in Monday’s match against Waterville, sweeping the Indians 25-12, 25-10, 25-10.
Up front, Carmella Rinaldo took a larger role, with 11 kills, while Denae Rinaldo finished with six kills and Tessa Gaglianese earned four kills. Jessica Patterelli’s tally included seven kills, 18 assists and four digs.
As this went on, Hamilton pulled off its best win of the season so far, upending perennial power Cooperstown in just three games.
Valaya Lalonde, with 13 assists, five digs and four kills, and Kaitlyn Askew, with nine assists, split back-line duties, while Tiffany Jones-Maxwell supplied the power on the front line with 15 kills and three blocks. Sam Martin added four kills and three digs.
Morrisville-Eaton lost in four games to Sherburne-Earlville. The Marauders edged past the Warriors 28-26 in the opener and took the second game 25-16. M-E won the third game 25-22, but S-E closed out the match 25-17 in the fourth game.
Sam Conklin led the Warriors with five aces, five digs and four kills. Lindsay Clark had five digs, five assists and four kills, while Taylor Gallup gained seven assists. Megan Matott (eight kills) and Ashley Rundell (eight aces) led M-E’s effort.
On Tuesday night, Hamilton made it back-to-back wins, sweeping McGraw 25-14, 25-16, 25-23. Jones-Maxwell had 12 kills, with Martin producing seven kills. Askew had 11 assists and Sorosky eight assists, with Morgan Brooks delivering four aces and two digs.
Canastota returned to the court on Wednesday night and had a tougher match against Vernon Verona Sherrill — but still survived two close early games to beat the Red Devils in three 25-22, 25-20, 25-14 and move to 5-0 on the season.
Not only did Denae Rinaldo bang out 14 kills, she excelled on defense with 16 digs. Patterelli backed up her 15 assists with six kill and 12 digs, while Liz LaVallee earned four aces and eight digs. Gaglianese had three kills and two assists.
