Back home from its fine work at the Manhattan Invitational, the Liverpool cross country team had to tend to the business of hosting its own big meet on Saturday at Long Branch Park.
Before that, though, the Warriors went east on Wednesday and stayed unbeaten in the CNY Counties League National division, beating Utica Proctor 15-48 on the boys end and 16-47 on the girls end.
Colin Savage won the boys race at Proctor Park in a swift time of 16:05, comfortably ahead of Alex Wilke, who was second in 16:26.
Anthony Brais was third (16:40), with Chris Clemons (16:50) and Mike Ostuni (17:01) rounding out a top-five sweep. Brandon Rudd landed in sixth, four seconds behind Ostuni, while Casey Guilfoil, Anthony Ostuni (17:54) and Drew Henry (17:55) finished within a second of each other.
Liverpool claimed the top four spots in the girls meet, as Lesley Bowers won in 19 minutes, 25 seconds, more than a minute ahead of Chelsea Attaway (20:44), who edged Trina Bills (20:45) for the runner-up spot. Melissa Riehl (20:52) was fourth.
Rachel Putman, with her sixth-place clocking of 21:15, led the next Warrior wave as Caroline Dieffenderfer finished seventh in 22:39. Katherine Vann was ninth (23:03) and Brianna Inman (23:27) in 10th place.
