As winter reluctantly turns to spring, the Gallery of CNY exhibit “Just Flowers” may remind viewers what they have to look forward to in the coming months.
“When we asked the gallery artists to help us welcome spring with the ‘Just Flowers’ show we could not have imagined the response,” said Jason Earley and Jennifer Schutzendorf. “The artists loved the idea and responded with an abundance of paintings depicting flowers. At the end of a long winter, this is just what we all need, ‘a colorful energetic lift’.”
Opening night for the new exhibit will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at The Gallery of CNY at 58 Albany Street in Cazenovia. Many of the artists will attend the reception to discuss their work.
The gallery will showcase the work of local artists Nicroa Gangi, Mary Padgett and Chris Baker. Non-gallery artists are also on display, with proceeds from their entry fee benefitting the Cazenovia Historic Business District.
Floral arrangements from Pamela Swatkovski, Ann Gruppe and Toala Perry will “echo” the arrangements of flowers in the artwork. Marlene Burrell of Flowers on Main is donating an arrangment based on one of the featured paintings by Mary Padgett. The arrangement will be for sale and the proceeds will also benefit the HCDB.
The magazine American Art Collector has provided national coverage for “Just Flowers” as well as several Gallery of CNY artists.
