Each of the Liverpool indoor track and field teams recorded solid efforts during last week’s Section III Class AA championship meets at Manley Field House.
Of the two, the boys Warriors did better, managing 46 points and a fourth-place finish. That wasn’t too far from Cicero-North Syracuse’s winning total of 80 points as Baldwinsville finished second and Corcoran took third place.
Colin Savage beat the field in the 1,000-meter run, earning a top time of two minutes, 35.07 seconds as Chris Clemons got third place in 2:41.80. Alex Wilke earned second place in the 600-meter run in 1:27.33, with Corcoran’s Trenton Spikes winning in 1:25.92.
In the 4×800 relay, Savage, Clemons and Wilke joined Frank Johnson as Liverpool posted a quick time of 8:13.04, more than 23 seconds clear of runner-up West Genesee.
Corey Bundrage earned a victory in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing in 8.07 seconds, 0.29 seconds clear of Rome Free Academy’s Matt Parker. Joe Alvarado was sixth in the pole vault as the Warriors also took sixth (3:50.96) in the 4×400 relay.
Liverpool only managed 39 points in the girls Class AA meet, which meant a sixth-place finish as Cicero-North Syracuse piled up 109 points to prevail.
On the oval, Trina Bills provided the Warriors a victory in the 1,000-meter run, her time of 3:05.03 beating CNS’s Lindsay Raulli by more than three second as Rachel Putman finished fourth in 3:14.68.
Harmony Cross picked up a third-place finish in the 55-meter high hurdles in 9.11 seconds. Miranda McConnell was fifth at 1,500 meters (5:14.76) and sixth (11:24.27) in the 3,000.
Armani Moore, Nachez Brown, Jennifer VanderMeulen and Ashley Twum teamed to finish third in the 4×200 relay in 1:55.04. Moore also claimed fourth place in the long jump, going 15 feet 11 1/4 inches as VanderMeulen took sixth (31 feet 6 1/4 inches) in the triple jump.
Meagan Turner cleared 4 feet 10 inches to tie for fifth in the high jump Tatiana Gladney was sixth in the shot put with 31 feet 2 inches. Brown ran to sixth in the 300-meter dash in 44.86 seconds.
