Both the Skaneateles and Marcellus indoor track and field teams had big moments during last Wednesday night’s Bob Grieve Invitational at Manley Field House.
In the girls meet, where the Lakers had 16 points to tie for ninth place, Madison Eckles beat the field in the pole vault for 10 of those points, as she was the only athlete at the meet to clear 9 feet 6 inches. Victoria Sakal was third in the 300-meter dash in 43.43 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the boys Grieve meet, two state cross country champions — Marcellus’ Chris Stogsdill and F-M’s Alex Hatz — would face each other in the 3,200-meter run.
Stogsdill had a fine race, posting a time of 9:47.48, which blew away everyone — except Hess, who ran alone to the finish line in 9:22.04. Mike Quercia was fourth (36.96 secodns) in the 300
Skaenateles, who had 12 points, would see Calvin Davis post 1:29.06 in the 600–meter dash. Brake Kriever take fifth place in the high jump, going 19 feet 7 1/2 inches.
