In light of much-needed upgrades to the current municipal court facilities in both the town of Elbridge and village of Jordan, local officials have begun talks of a joint justice center.
Elbridge Town Supervisor Ken Bush said the town approached the village board to propose a joint facility, which would allow for them to apply for a shared services grant through New York state. Both Elbridge and Jordan are in need to upgraded court facilities, as discussed by both municipalities in recent months.
A shared center would provide offices for both municipal court clerks and justices, as well as a court room to be used by both systems, Bush said.
Bush and town councilor George Betts attended Thursday’s Jordan village board meeting, where they discussed the possibility of going forward with the project.
Bush said the town would wait to hear from the village before seeking plans and figures from an architect for the new justice center.
