J-E volleyball wins at Phoenix tournament

The Jordan-Elbridge volleyball team took home first-place honors at the Phoenix tournament on Dec. 27.

After going 3-3 in round-robin play, the Eagles won a one-game playoff with Port Byron to advance to the finals against Hannibal, a team that had beaten them in both their round-robin games.

The Eagles came out strong in the first game, taking it by a score of 25-17. The next two games were much closer, with J-E taking leads and then holding on to win each of them by 25-23 margins.

Leaders for JE for the tournament included the strong serving of Jordan Clifford (34 points, 11 digs) and Lisa Kimak (20 points, 6 kills).

Emily Longeretta (11 assists) and Carey Harvey (12 assists) ran the offense, as Alicia

Andrianos (14 kills, 1 block) led the way at the net. Erika Peterson was a rock on defense, recording 16 digs and a 90% passing rating. Clifford was named to the all tournament team, while Peterson took home MVP honors.
