To commemorate the 26th year in our current location (we couldn’t celebrate our 25th in October 2020), Baldwinsville Public Library staff is planning a month-long celebration for this October and we’d like your help. As we reflect on the events of the last year, we see how strong and resilient the community is. We’re asking for items to display in the library and online that reflect everyone’s experiences during the pandemic.
Amid this huge pandemic, what has sustained you? It is the little things in our daily lives that help us cope and it is those little things that bring us comfort. People we’ve spoken to said they finished a home improvement project that wasn’t a priority until they were stuck at home. Others have taken to baking bread or cooking stews and recipes they hadn’t tried before. Still others were able to read more, checking out books through curbside or vestibule pick-up.
You can also contribute something about your online experience like the book clubs, sewing and knitting, crafts, and Dungeons and Dragons that have moved to virtual meet-ups to stay in contact. What was your first virtual experience like? Did you learn a new skill at a virtual meeting?
We want your pictures, writings, and objects, those little things, that symbolize your pandemic experience. You can write a haiku or other poem, a short story or cartoon as well as paint, draw, construct, or submit anything that illustrates your daily life amidst this worldwide crisis. Whether you are a nurse on the front lines or a stay-at-home parent with small children, a senior citizen living alone or working virtually from your basement, we want to hear from you!
