It isn’t a stretch to say that the Baldwinsville boys bowling team was primed for the 2018-19 season to start.
The Bees went to Green Lakes Bowl last Monday afternoon and saw Tanner Rozycko tear up the lanes and lead his side to a 3-0 victory over Fayetteville-Manlius.
Though the Hornets had beaten Central Square in its Nov. 20 opener, it had no one that could keep up with Rozycko, who put together a three-game total of 706 that included a 258 high game.
Offering plenty of help, Dylan Williams gave B’ville a 655 series, with a high game of 234. No one on F-M did better than the 557 series and 202 high game from Michael Nanno.
B’ville’s girls bowling team lost, 2-1, though Amelia Ponto had a 222 game in her 530 series and Brooke Flask’s 209 game led to a 494 set. Hannah Pinard added a 460 series as Shelby Minor paced F-M with a 522 series and high game of 199.
Another big match took place a day later against Fulton at B’ville Sports Bowl, and the girls won 2-1 despite the Red Raiders’ Alexis Ingersoll lighting it up with a Section III season-best 258 game on her way to a 672 series.
Flask led her side with a 583 series (214 high game) as Ponto got a three-game total of 557. Julia Speich’s season-best 220 game and 549 series helped, too, as Madison Haas had a 198 game in her 467 series and Pinard contributed a 473 set. Other than Ingersoll, no Fulton bowler had a better series than the 470 from Jaden Harrington.
Meanwhile, the boys Bees got a 736 series from Roczyko with a 257 high game, yet still lost 2-1 to Fulton. Other than Rozycko, only Dylan Williams produced with any sort of consistency, his 575 series including a 202 high game.
By contrast, four Fulton bowlers had series of 549 or better, with Joe Benevidez (617 series), Anthony DeMasi (590 series), Mitch Donaldson (579 series) and Aiden Franco (549 series) getting them.
B’ville bowled again on Friday, against Auburn, and the girls prevailed 2-1 as Flask notched a 244 game on her way to a 618 series. Julia Spiech had a 222 game, while Ponto’s 528 series included a 184 game.
It proved a 3-0 shutout in favor of the boys Bees, with top games coming from David Hildreth (203) and Dylan Love (193) as B’ville would go to Oswego Monday and face Cicero-North Syracuse Tuesday at Strike-N-Spare Lanes before a Friday match with Cortland.
