To the editor:
Recently, Mr. Schreibman wrote a letter vilifying Pat Carmeli. He writes that Cazenovia is a haven of mutual respect, decency and civility. However, his attack on Pat, Miko Peled and Allison Weir is most indecent and far from civil. Mr. Schreibman is using his Zionist ideology to discredit anyone who opposes the colonization and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.
Pat is a most credible witness to the brutal occupation that started in 1948 escalated in 1967 and continues today. She lived in Israel and raised four children as Israeli citizens. She chose to return to the U.S. to protect her children from having to serve in the Israeli Defense Force which perpetuates the occupation and oppression of the indigenous Palestinian population. She has worked tirelessly to support her family and with their support continues her activism to bring justice to the Palestinians.
MIko Peled is an Israeli from a very prominent family. He is well respected and a most credible witness to the occupation. Mr. Schreibman has again taken out of context a criticism relative to a short tweet. Jewish Voice for Peace was initially critical but later stated they had no intent to discredit Miko or his activism. If you did not have the privilege to hear Miko speak in Cazenovia or Syracuse I suggest you Google and watch his presentation.
As with Miko and Pat, Mr. Schreibman has taken out of context an article Allison Weir wrote as a journalist, investigating a report and allegations that came out of Sweden.
It’s not my intent to tell you how you should think but I strongly suggest before you take the word of Mr. Schreibman you do your own research and draw your own conclusions.
I believe the world would be a much better place if more people cared enough to fight for those suffering great injustice. I feel fortunate to know Pat and give her my support and appreciation for her efforts to right a horrible wrong.
