Looking for something fun and free to do this weekend? The 10th annual Fayetteville Festival will be held from noon until dusk Saturday, Sept. 19, in Beard Park with plenty of family-friendly activities going on throughout the day. “It’s just a great way for all of the organizations and people in the community to get together in one place,” said Karen Shepardson, deputy village clerk. “It’s also a great way for people who are new to the community to see the different ways they can be involved.” More than 30 local organizations and service groups will be present, said Shepardson, including the Fayetteville Department of Public Works (DPW), the Manlius Police Department and the Fayetteville Fire Department, who will be hosting a chicken barbecue throughout the day. The police department will be on hand to provide fingerprinting for children. The Fayetteville Free Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a Family Field Day from 10 a.m. to noon in conjunction with the festival just a few blocks away at 300 Orchard St. New this year will be pony rides and a BB gun shooting trailer by the Boy Scouts. The Boy Scouts will also have their Monkey Bridge for people to try. Additionally, the Taste of Fayetteville, will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. to showcase Fayetteville eateries, such as Hullar’s Restaurant, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Freedom of Espresso and Pasquale’s Slice of Italy. Raffles will be held throughout the day, including a 32-inch TV, Visa Gift Card, a car and a Stickley clock. From 6 to 8 p.m., The Party Nuts band will provide live entertainment and a fireworks display will follow. Shepardson said the festival would not b possible without the support of local sponsors, including Creative Environment Day School, T.H.
