Despite a new milestone from Imani Williams, the Westhill/Corcoran girls swim team fell to Mexico 102-76 in last Tuesday’s regular-season finale. Williams, one of Section III’s top divers, broke her own school record by accumulating 257.10 points as the Warriors earned a series of individual titles despite the Tigers’ big point margin. Lauren Perry got pushed to a time of 26.03 seconds in the 50 freestyle and also won the 100 freestyle in 56.09 seconds. Hannah Fenney prevailed in the 100 butterfly (1:06.34) and Rachel Perry needed 1:05.28 to get first place in the 100 backstroke. Also, Westhill/Corcoran took the 400 freestyle relay as Dana Ganley, Maura Fleming and the two Perrys combined for a time of 4:23.95. A day later, West Genesee met Auburn in its regular-season finale and also got beat, falling to the Maroons 90-77. Amid a long string of early wins by Auburn, Kim Pedrotti did emerge to claim the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:25.68. Later, Pedrotti would also win the 100 breaststroke (1:14.07) and help Abby Luber, Emily Kanoza and Amanda Bingham swim the 400 freestyle relay in 4:04.19. For the Maroons, Mallory Dygert and MaryJane Leja both won twice — Dygert in the 200 freestyle (2:08.20) and 500 freestyle (5:50.24), Leja in the 50 freestyle (26.37 seconds) and 100 freestyle (59.18 seconds). All the local swimmers will make their way to Nottingham High School next week for the annual Section III championships, which run Nov. 4 through 7.
