Now the Christian Brothers Academy girls swim team’s win streak stands at 30 consecutive meets following last Wednesday’s 102-79 victory over Manlius-Pebble Hill at LeMoyne College’s pool. Many different swimmers got a chance to shine, though Maggie Fletcher did emerge to win the 100 butterfly in 1:02.91 and 100 backstroke in 1:04.16. Other top swimmers, like Lexy McCauley (100 freestyle, 1:00.10), Zoe McCauley (500 freestyle, 5:34.05) and Destiny Cerlanek (100 breaststroke, 1:16.08) claimed one victory apiece.
Mary Ireland needed 2:40.56 to earn first place in the 200 individual medley. Liz Catalano won the 50 freestyle, edging teammate Kristina Wendl, 28.31 seconds to 28.50, while Kelly Bewley picked up 132.95 points in diving.
MPH did win the 200 medley relay as Carly Bright, Lillie Haxton, Nika Jonas and Phoebe Patrician posted a time of 2:07.06. But CBA countered by winning the 200 freestyle (1:53.47) and 400 freestyle (4:15.16) relays as Cerlanek, Wendl, Catalano, Ireland, Gabrielle Damico and both McCauley sisters took part. On the same night, Jamesville-DeWitt stayed unbeaten in the OHSL (4-0) and moved to 5-1 on the season with a 91-72 conquest of the Cortland Purple Tigers. Caitlin Cariseo, Madeline Seely, Kalie Coyne and Morgan Pusey started the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 2:07.08. Following that, Coyne dominated the 100 butterfly in 1:02.22, while Pusey teamed with Molly Lenehan, Amanda Behan and Julia Corales to swim the 400 freestyle relay in 4:43.92. Behan, on her own, edged Ashley Buck, 28.79 seconds to 28.98, to win the 50 freestyle. Katie Comanici was first in the 200 IM (2:22.93) as Gillian McGann took the 500 freestyle (6:20.6), Meghan Engstrom won the 100 backstroke (1:13.80) and Molly Hair stepped in to win the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.52. Natalie Della Posta earned 173.9 points on the diving board to edge Taylor Cook (171.4 points) for the top spot. Fayetteville-Manlius returned to action last Friday at the LeMoyne College pool, earning a 95-85 victory over Cicero-North Syracuse to improve to 3-1 in CNY Counties League meets (3-2 overall). Hadley Cameron-Carter was a part of four winning efforts. On her own, she took the 100 freestyle in 57.18 seconds and prevailed in the 100 backstroke (1:06.06), and she helped winning 200 medley (1:59.89) and 200 freestyle (1:48.33) relay sides that included Melissa James, Delaney Pfohl, Stephanie Wilcoxen and Katie Pechacek. As for Pechacek, she edged CNS’s Emily Altier in the 200 freestyle, 2:04.78 to 2:04.99, while Wilcoxen won the 50 freestyle (26.72) and Pfohl took the 100 butterfly in 1:07.12. In the 500 freestyle, Pechacek earned a second title in 5:37.46.
