Early on the morning of April 13, Baldwinsville’s girls lacrosse team left Hancock Airport on a flight across the country, to California. And it did so as the state’s top-ranked team, a direct result of its 9-8 victory over West Genesee on April 9 that snapped the Wildcats’ 52-game win streak. Once on the West Coast, the Bees got plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery — but some work was thrown in, too. That started on Wednesday, when B’ville beat Dansville 19-6. Much of that production came in a 15-2 first half where everything seemed to click. Kara Moschetti (three goals, three assists) and Jen Fabian (two goals, four assists) served as the anchors of a deep attack where Mackenzie Kjerstad scored four times. Quincey Spagnoletti had her own three-goal hat trick, while Erika Bulken and Maddison Frink earned two goals apiece. Meghan Haney, Sarah Clark and Lauren Roberts scored, too, with Meagan Rowe and Katie Sullivan earning assists. In its other game, the Bees bashed Berkeley 22-2, a game where Fabian, Spagnoletti and Becky Guzzo each landed three-goal hat tricks during a 16-1 first half, and Fabian added four assists. Right behind them, Kjerstad, Bulken and Frink put up two goals apiece, with Moschetti getting a goal and two assists. Haney had one goal and one assist as Clark, Katie VanDeValk, Taylor Ventre, Samantha Yaro and Bridget Florack all took turns getting single goals. Having returned home safely, B’ville waits until Thursday to resume its season at Oswego, with a Saturday trip to Auburn also on tap. In alumni news, Emma Albert, a 2008 graduate, has immediately landed a starting role at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as a defender. She also has six goals this season as RPI is 6-5 this spring.
