Getting just the right start to its 2009 season, the Skaneateles girls swim team put together a 94-82 victory over Manlius-Pebble Hill in last Wednesday night’s home opener at the Community Center pool. Sarah Sawyer led the Lakers with a pair of individual titles. First, Sawyer swam the 200 freestyle in 2:15.05, and she went on to take first place in the 500 freestyle in 6:00.66. Sawyer, Rachel DeWitt, Nikki Cole and Amanda Shoenfelt worked together to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:53.56. As a starting point, Cole, Shoenfelt, Paige Williams and Mandi Steves helped the Lakers take the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:10.25. Individually, Cole swam to victory in the 50 freestyle (27.91 seconds) and Williams needed 1:22 to beat the field in the 100 breaststroke. Sharon Adams earned 122.85 points on the diving board. Skaneateles will go up against traditional power CBA at the Community Center Monday before a Wednesday trip to Mexico.
