Central New York native Nick Ziobro returns home to star in the Town of Manlius production of “Bye, Bye, Birdie.” Ziobro, the national winner of the 2012 Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Vocal Competition, will portray Conrad Birdie, a 1950s Elvis inspired rock and roll superstar recently drafted into the U.S. Army.
“We are very excited to have Nick return to Manlius this summer to perform in this classic Broadway musical,” said Town of Manlius Recreation Supervisor and co-producer Kristine Zingaro. “The stars really aligned and we are very fortunate that Nick was available and willing to come back home this summer to be a part of another Town of Manlius show.”
Ziobro’s debut album — “A Lot Of Livin’ To Do” — produced by Michael Feinstein and featuring jazz greats Bucky Pizzarelli, Tedd Firth, Jay Leonhart and more, was released in May 2014. The title track of that album, written by Charles Strouse, comes from “Bye, Bye, Birdie” and is sung by the character Ziobro will play this summer.
Auditions to fill other roles in this community production will take place May 17 and 21. For details, visit manliusmusical.org.
