CENTRAL NEW YORK – Without much stress, the Cazenovia boys tennis team continued to build its eary-season win streaks.
The Lakers were dominant in last Monday’s 5-0 victory over Mexico, with the singles trio of Traian Cherciu, Garret Lounsbury and Gabe Reagan not allowing a single game in any of their wins over, respectively, Owen Marsden, Billy Mills and Joe Boulais.
It wasn’t much different in doubles, where Max Reger and Evan Molloy handled Jacob Gates and Preston Searor 6-0, 6-1 and Ethan Camp and Cy Laurie got a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kevin Perlet and Sam Britton.
Another match followed on Tuesday and Cazenovia claimed another 5-0 shutout, this time over Sauquoit Valley, before it returned to league action on Friday to face Manlius Pebble Hill.
And the Lakers beat the Trojans 4-1, securing a singles sweep when Reagan, in third singles, came from behind and fought past Gonzalo De La Torre 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.
Cherciu had already beaten Jaasmin Zaman 6-1, 6-1, with Lounsbury topping Alex Fung 6-1, 6-2. Camp and Laurie lost in doubles, but Reger and Molloy won 6-3, 6-3 over Abe Salomon and Deven Trikka.
Chittenango was back on the court last Wednesday afternoon, taking on Pulaski, and with points in both singles and doubles the Bears beat the Blue Devils 4-1 for its third consecutive victory.
