Dog rescued from E. Genesee St. fire

TOWN OF DEWITT – On the evening of March 18, fire fighters from the DeWitt, East Syracuse, Fayetteville, Manlius and Solvay fire departments responded to a structure fire at a home on E. Genesee Street in DeWitt.
When police arrived, they observed smoke and flames emanating from the residence and ensured everyone was out of the residence, which consisted of two adults, who were uninjured. At the time, the homeowner’s dog was still inside of the residence. When firefighters arrived, the extinguished the fire and rescued the uninjured dog.
East Genesee Street was shut down for several hours as firefighters were on scene. Lieutenant Jerry Pace of the DeWitt Police Department said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
