The Baldwinsville Lions recently met to celebrate the successes of their 74th year of service in the community and to prepare for their 75th.
Their annual meeting was held at the Community House at Community Park where members and guests socialized together at dinner after meeting at the newly installed Mommy & Me swing adjacent to what we believe is the only wheelchair accessible swing in Onondaga County. The Lions worked to complete this project for nearly two years, first to arrange financing then working to erect and install the components with the help of Baldwinsville DPW crew.
After Dinner, Lion Stu Ledwith was presented with a plague naming him as a Melvin Jones Fellow in recognition of his almost 50 years as an active Lion.
The Lions also celebrated their ability to recycle over 1,150 pairs of eyeglasses donated at the Baldwinsville Library and St. Augustine’s Church. They also provided eyeglasses to students referred by school nurses, completed projects in Community Park, worked with Canton Woods to prepare their garden, and hosted a Free Bicycle Giveaway in May.
Their are looking forward to their second annual Small Fry Fishing Derby in July. Pre-registration will be required.
