Family and friends will gather this weekend to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Bruce and Nancy Haney.
Born and raised in Elmira Heights, they grew up three streets apart. Their first date was at Bruce’s junior prom. Seven years later, after both had completed college degrees leading to careers as professors, they were married at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Aug. 6, 1966.
Jobs at Phoenix and Fulton high schools led the couple to purchase a house in Baldwinsville, where they reside to this day. They raised three children while participating in many community organizations. Bruce and Nancy have been supporting members of Grace Episcopal Church for many years.
Sharing a desire for lifelong learning, they have traveled extensively, visiting 48 U.S. states and 21 different countries. Summers were spent towing a tent trailer all around the U.S. with family, visiting museums and historical locations. And still today they are constantly traveling, learning the culture, art and history of an area.
Having raised three successful kids, they have now added two daughters-in-law and seven grandchildren to their immediate family. They are very proud that those grandchildren are following in their footsteps with church activities, sporting events, musical pursuits and even travel overseas.
So if you see Bruce or Nancy, wish them a ‘Happy 50th’ and best wishes on their way to 60!
