LIVERPOOL — When the Liverpool Public Library’s Children’s Room reopens, patrons will find the finishing touches to the colorful renovation that started with the addition of the popular cubby wall and other reconfigurations before the onset of the pandemic.
Movers cleared the room on Tuesday, July 6, to make room for the installation of new shelving and interactive play areas.
The goal is for delivery and installation to be completed for the room to reopen in the next few weeks.
Children’s materials are available in Studio @ LPL in the interim.
The theme for the new learning experience is Grow with Me. Children will be able to play and learn. Or maybe it will be learn and play.
The space will include a weaving wall, pixel wall and a combination builders’ wall and table with crafts, games and puzzles. Big boards will allow for creative use of magnets and more to build on themes that will be changed to connect with seasons, current events or other learning opportunities to encourage discovery and interaction.
Kids, families and caregivers will spot new and exciting challenges to spark their curiosity each visit.
“The library renovation provided a perfect opportunity for us to rethink our children’s room to incorporate learning through creative play,” said LPL Director Glenna Wisniewski. “The more children can connect language learning through books, games and songs the stronger the foundation to become life-long readers and writers. The new interactive play areas for ages birth to pre-teen, along with our wonderful book and media collection, will provide a welcoming space families won’t want to leave!”
Patrons can find updates with photos and videos of the space on our website at lpl.org/about-lpl/about-us/childrens-room-renovations-2021/.
