To the editor:
As a businessman in Liverpool, I read with interest your article on the planned route 370 road modifications (“Meeting discusses parkway plans,” July 21, page 3). I believe there is not greater community discussion as to how this will affect us because many people are unaware of the proposals.
Has the engineer involved with the project, David Fracchini, provided any studies on how long a delay funneling 22,000 vehicles on Onondaga Lake Parkway down to a single lane would be? Or what the increase in traffic from 13,000 vehicles on Old Liverpool Road would be? I’m sure residents around Old Liverpool Road would be interested in these projections, as well as commuters working in the city.
I submit that causing drivers to merge before a single lane on Route 370 before the bridge will increase accidents, not reduce them, as they jockey for position. I reference my reverse commute from Manlius as drivers jockey for the Route 92 exit from Route 481. How frequent are accidents there?
