The Cazenovia Public Library is certainly one of the gems of our community, with the great selection of books, excellent technology resources, an amazing museum and countless community programs that it offers — and while people may know that Caz has one of the best public libraries around the Central New York region, we think it is time to make it official. The Central New York Library Resources Council announced recently that it is now accepting nominations for “Library of the Year” open to any library within Herkimer, Madison, Oneida and Onondaga counties.
Cazenovia, if you utilize and love our community library, we urge you to nominate it for Library of the Year.
According to the CPLC, nominated libraries should exhibit certain qualities in order to be considered. They should:
∙Always prepared to answer questions, be helpful and provide research assistance.
∙Offer a wide variety of programs and services that appeal to all members of the community.
∙Be active in the community.
∙Respond to the needs of the community.
∙Have convenient hours and location for users.
∙Have ease of use (finding what you need).
∙Have staff with up-to-date skills.
∙Have welcoming physical and online spaces.
∙Operate with sustainable practices.
Nominations are also open for “Library Staff All-Star” which recognizes an individual who routinely goes above and beyond to serve their community.
Our library definitely exhibits the above qualities, and has an outstanding staff. Anyone who routinely uses the facility knows that it is constantly in use by patrons young and old, browsing for books and using the computers, enjoying the cultural museum or art gallery, participating in one a public program or simply just sitting there reading. Let’s honor what our library does for us by nominating it for Library of the Year.
