CAZENOVIA — Cazenovia Community Preschool (CCP) will host a pig roast fundraiser on Saturday, June 5, from noon until sold out.
Operated out of a retrofitted house at 49 Burton St., CCP is a not-for-profit, comprehensive preschool with a mission to provide well-rounded and nurturing learning experiences for children in the Cazenovia area, regardless of ability or family income, with the goal of supporting the full development of each child’s potential. The program’s curriculum emphasizes language, cognitive, social, physical, emotional and creative development.
Proceeds from the event will help fund tuition assistance for the 2021-2022 school year.
According to CCP Executive Committee Vice Chair Sandra Beyel, all of the preschool’s fundraisers last year were canceled due to COVID-19.
“The economic ripple effects of the global pandemic have been vast, [extending] throughout our country and into our small community here in Cazenovia,” said Beyel. “We at CCP are committed to providing quality preschool education for all of those in need no matter income or ability. We have done our best to keep the school open and our children safe in these difficult times. As our country opens up again and life starts returning to some kind of normalcy, we are hoping that generous hearts are willing to support our school once again as we provide a bright start for all of [our] students’ futures.”
Tickets are available in advance on the CCP website for $12.50 (adults) and $7 (children 10 and under). Walk-ups will also be accepted.
Meals will include a pulled pork sandwich (a slider for children’s meals), three sides, a drink, and a selection of sauces and dressings.
The pig has been donated and will be cooked on-site by Beyel and her husband, Doug. Their business, Hill Vue Farms, is located at 5776 Nelson Road in Fenner.
During the event, CCP parents and board volunteers will also be holding a bake sale.
According to Beyel, Cazenovia College Dinning Services donated the use of their kitchens for CCP to prep and cook the side dishes the morning of the event.
“Former CCP board member Mary Judd graciously has donated her time, catering equipment, and expertise in the food service industry to help us get this fundraiser going,” Beyel said. “She and I have worked closely in the past, and she is a wonderful asset [to us now].”
Tables will be available for dining in CCP’s side yard. Parents, staff, and board members will be available to deliver pre-orders straight to customers’ cars.
Masks, gloves and appropriate PPE will be worn, and COVID-19 safety measures, along with Madison County Health Department food safety procedures, will be followed.
