Cazenovia CSD Superintendent Matt Reilly has announced the promotion of Dr. Terry Ward to the newly created position of assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and pupil personnel services. This appointment was approved by the Board of Education on Aug. 8 at its regularly scheduled meeting.
Ward had been the district’s director of special education since the 2014-15 school year.
This appointment represents one of the steps being taken in the district’s restructuring of the overall administrative team, according to district information. The next step will be to bring on board a Committee on Special Education Chairperson/Assistant High School Principal.
This new configuration will strengthen the leadership team and increase district capacity, while not increasing the size or cost of the administrative team.
Ward will continue to have programmatic oversight for Special Education, but be relieved of most of the day-to-day work that accompanies that department. Additionally, Ward will provide coordination, guidance and support for curriculum and instruction initiatives. The high school’s needs for student management, coordination and an administrative “presence” will continue to be met with the hiring of the C.S.E. chairperson/assistant high school principal.
