Fayetteville Elementary School Principal Eileen Lux was recently named Administrator of the Year by the Empire State Supervisors and Administrators Association (ESSAA) for Region 8.
“I am honored to be nominated and selected for this award,” Lux said. “This is truly a reflection of our dedicated staff, supportive families and incredible students. I am so fortunate to work with such an amazing team.”
The annual award is given to a public school leader whose leadership skills and curricular vision supports student achievements and a positive learning environment, according to ESSAA Region 8 President Grenardo L. Avellino.
ESSAA is made up of eight regions across the state and F-M is part of Region 8, which has about 264 individual members. Its mission is to champion the cause of public education and advocate for public school leaders, according to its website.
Lux, a Manlius resident, is completing her eighth year at F-M this school year. Prior to becoming principal of Fayetteville Elementary School in 2012, she served as assistant principal for Eagle Hill Middle School for four years. She also worked for 15 years as a fourth-grade teacher and an instructional specialist in the Jamesville-Dewitt School District.
F-M’s Director of Counseling Services Heidi Green and Fayetteville Elementary School Counselor Robert Baker nominated Lux for this year’s award.
“Eileen has an infectious energy that enlivens her school and inspires her teachers to bring out the best in their students,” Green said in her nomination letter. “She is creative, confident and has positively influenced the school’s culture since her arrival.”
In his nomination letter, Baker discusses how Lux through her caring nature garnered the respect of her school community.
“Eileen is quite unique in the way she unites others,” Baker wrote in his nomination letter. “We currently have large numbers of students, staff and parents actively participating within our school due in large part to Lux’s leadership.”
Lux will receive her award June 3 at ESSAA’s executive board meeting in Saratoga Springs.
